Weekend Workshops + Events: So Much on the Go, Hope to See You There!!
Hi there Folks,
Firstly, we're SO excited to have 230+ youth from 25+ countries registered for our hackathon... It's amazing to see so many peeps come together to fight for climate, a BIG WELCOME TO ALL!!
Secondly, a reminder to PLESAE JOIN OUR SLACK CHANNEL... Invites sent via e-mail + link also here: https://join.slack.com/t/climate-changemakers/shared_invite/zt-1u51xl4wl-4bYTS4A3JLc1rk8G9ZpObw
And thirdly, we've got LOTS OF EXCITING EVENTS for this weekend, specifically:
- Saturday @ 10 AM EST: Info Session on the Climate Change-Makers Challenge... We'll go through key details + logistics, similar to our intro call. There will also be time for questions & folks looking for teams are welcome to join the call, with us doing a mini-team-making session after.
- Saturday @ 3 PM EST: Story-telling, Starting with Your Why & Tips on Your 4-Minute Video... We'll be doing a pitching workshop of sorts, with a particular focus on integrating story-telling in your 4-minute video, with early insight shared here around rubrics as well.*
- Saturday @ 8 PM EST: Movie showing of There's Something in the Water, followed by a discussion about environmental racism... This is one of the four lenses ALL submissions must consider.*
And even more cool stuff on Sunday:
- Sunday @ 11 AM EST: Networking Session: Connect with Fellow Change-Makers, a session where we'll run some activities to get people connecting with each other across countries + teams... This is IMO the most exciting event of the weekend, connect with others in our joint community :)*
- Sunday @ 12-3 PM EST: Mentorshop Sessions with Alumni Lisa Chen, with six slots available that must be booked in advance (check Slack for deets & contact co-organizer Arpita for specifics)... Lisa'a an incredible innovator (LinkedIn here), founder of Oceanic Impact & alumni of our challenge!
- Sunday @ 3 PM EST: Market Research 101, a workshop on the basis of market research & thinking about different ways to approach it... We've had a few questions about this from participants & do strongly recommend all teams to spend decent time researching your problem!*
- Sunday @ 8 PM EST: Game Night 2.0, with this being one of the biggest hits from last weekend & a fun way to end the week, with the exact games TBD but things like Codenames, Katan & Solutions proposed so far... We're open to suggestions, feel free to reach out (even to lead something)!
* As before, all starred workshops/ events contribute to bonus points, with up to five on offer for workshop participation + mentorship + cross-posting projects on both Devpost & EarthNet.
And finally, if folks have q's, do reach out... And in particular, please let us know if you are still looking for team-mates (others are as well), with a "free agent" channel on our Slack to help in team-making & a Google form here to assist in the process as well: https://forms.gle/BnvyabowUwepy4qHA.
We honestly are SO excited to work with all you incredible people from literally every corner of the world & are excited to meet even more of you this weekend... HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!
Many thanks & kind regards,
Shitangshu
